We are proud to announce that The Kennedy Center for Performing Arts was officially nominated for a Webby Award in the Cultural Institutions Websites and Mobile Sites category in 2021.

This nomination is a distinct achievement. With nearly 13,500 entries from all 50 U.S. states and over 70 countries—and 2.2 million votes cast by over 600,000 people in Webby People’s Voice, the 25th Annual Webby Award is the most historic season yet. As a Nominee this year, The Kennedy Center site was chosen by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences as one the top 5 in the category, in the world; and in the top 10% of all work entered. That is a remarkable feat!

The Kennedy Center’s Goal

The Kennedy Center’s goal was to improve the entire patron experience. That started with making it easy to plan and purchase tickets and take advantage of the amenities their expanded campus has to offer. This also means showing the wonder of the arts with video on demand on the Digital Stage, education programs and resources, and world-class performances by artists and ensembles, including their own National Symphony Orchestra and Washington National Opera. A full site redesign featuring a digital stage, new calendar, new genre pages and more delivers powerful arts education opportunities nationwide and allows patrons to experience the Kennedy Center at home.

About the Kennedy Center

The Center’s mission is established in its authorizing statute:  present classical and contemporary music, opera, drama, dance, and other performing arts from the United States and other countries; promote and maintain the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as the National Center for the Performing Arts; strive to ensure that the education and outreach programs and policies of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts meet the highest level of excellence and reflect the cultural diversity of the United States; provide facilities for other civic activities at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts; and provide within the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts a suitable memorial in honor of the late President.
