The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is a professional membership organization dedicated to the health, safety, and well-being of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. Located just outside Chicago, the AAP provides resources for pediatric healthcare professionals to continuously grow their knowledge. AAP also hosts resources for parents and child caregivers who are looking for more information about the physical, mental, and social health of the children in their lives.
A Decade-long Partnership with the American Academy of Pediatrics

The Beginning of a Partnership
AAP came to Adage in 2012 to redesign their shopAAP ecommerce site. The new shopAAP features a custom ecommerce solution and a simplified all-in-one purchase path. The new site yielded dramatic results including a 20% increase in ecommerce revenue. Since the team at AAP had many digital projects in the pipeline, they chose to continue their partnership with Adage. Over the past decade we have helped bring their visions to life.


Building Better Solutions
AAP’s previous website ecosystem included 16 various microsites broken up based on the unique needs of the audience. Throughout our partnership with AAP, Adage has condensed the information into fewer websites and implemented a new federated search and navigation that allows users to quickly and easily find the information they need. We also built out a self-service “My Account” members portal, including a Transcripts application that allowed users to upload transcripts and submit them to the American Board of Pediatrics for certifications, and much more to advance AAP’s overall website.
Version 1 to Version 2
We have completed many projects for AAP, but as time goes on technology naturally becomes outdated or needs a refresh. Since the initial project, shopAAP has been updated by the Adage team to meet the changing needs of the association’s members. We have also made updates to the federated search for the AAP’s website and helped implement a new Learning Management System. AAP and Adage have spent the last decade partnering together on a variety of projects that help AAP best connect with their audience.


From Discovery to Consulting
While development projects are a large part of the work Adage does, helping clients discover solutions and giving them tools to thrive is a key part of our mission. The Adage team has led AAP through discovery and visioning phases for each project and run workshops with stakeholders to identify the needs of the organization, staff, and audience alike. Throughout the past 10 years, Adage has facilitated large retrospectives, trained the AAP team in agile, helped them move to scrum teams, and conducted a variety of additional consulting work.
